Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A joint route march was conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the local police in the Kandi police station area of Murshidabad on Friday. The operation covered several villages, including Sahispara, and was aimed at strengthening border surveillance following Operation Sindoor. Officials from both forces began their patrols early in the morning, covering sensitive locations across this border district.
According to local police, the march was a preventive measure in response to public concerns amid ongoing military exercises between India and Pakistan. Murshidabad, which shares an international border, has been under increased surveillance due to its strategic location. BSF personnel have been deployed along various points of the district border, while police teams have intensified ground presence in rural zones. The combined operation also involved village-level visits by senior officers.
Residents were engaged directly by the security personnel during the march. Awareness drives were carried out to prevent panic. "We’re here to ensure your safety—there is no reason to panic,” a police officer told villagers during the march. The forces aimed to maintain order, counter misinformation, and reinforce the message that security arrangements were in place across the district.
